A new Figure - the Org Chart

This week I’ve added another Figure: the org chart. It generates a hierarchical arrangement of people/roles/anything. Here’s an example of what it can produce:

An organisation hierarchy starting with a CEO at the top with CTO, COO, CFO and CMO roles below all connected back to the CEO by lines.

Hierarchies like these are present in many places, not just organisations. Using this Figure I was able to plot the hierarchy of rooms and spaces at the FOSDEM 2022 online event:

A map of the fosdem 2022 matrix space and the 800+ rooms it contained.

This was posted on pixelfed and twitter where you can find more detail and the full image.

The org chart figure has no options for customisation (yet). However you can download the Figure as an SVG and continue to edit in your favorite graphics program. Take if for a spin here and check out the documentation.

Finally as promised in the last post we now have a Roadmap which you can find with the rest of our planning and design thoughts over on the Figular wiki.

As ever please get in touch with any thoughts or feedback.
